A couple of my Walking Dead The Comic Book sketch cards. The first is of carol as a walker & the second is of the scene where michonne bites off the governors ear. Both are 2.5x3.5 inches & are done with copic markers & acrylic inks.

Well since my cards were approved for this trading card set, figured I might as well show them off. So heres some cards I did for the Civil War Chronicles by Cult Stuff. I know, not the most exciting set, but I wanted to be able to add to my portfolio some very stylized portrait work...

Some of these Individuals I chose because of their fame/infamy...others i chose simply by the epicness of their facial hair.

On these cards in particular I used my airbrush to lay down that aged yellow look on the cards as a base, after that I drew the characters, and finally I splattered darker version of the background color in order to further add aged elements to the cards.

The Walking Dead The Comic Book Audition Sketch Cards, Rick & Tyreese

Its almost Time, "The walking Dead Comic Book 2" trading card set is coming out in a few weeks....so its time to start showing them off! I'm going to start off by posting a few of my audition sketch cards. Yes....every artist had to submit 4 audition sketch cards in order to be qualified to work on the set.The cards were then approved by the art directors at which point you were sent the rest of the cards.

Here are two of mine, Rick & Tyreese I think the Tyreese card is one of my favorites from the set. For that card I chose to do the seen where he had been locked in the gym of the prison and everyone had given him up for dead, but when they returned he was standing around in a pile of bodies because he had killed every single walker in there. That was the moment in the comic when I realized tyreese was truly a badass thus becoming one of my favorite characters.

I had a ton of fun working on the set, by far one of the best to work on. I did a total of 80+ cards. These two were done with the usual copic markers also added some splattering with acrylic. In my opinion, the audition cards weren't that great, the cards definitely got better as I went a long & loosened up.....But I do love the Tyreese one....wish I could get that one back! I'll be receiving 9 Artist proof blanks for commissions, two of which are spoken for.

Contemporary Pin-Ups Puzzle Jam!!!!

Hmmm.....Look what I'm Working on!...

I will be doing puzzle jam cards with Steve "Sly"Lydic. What is a puzzle jam you ask? well basically we are sent two cards uncut, I draw one part, and then they are sent to the other artist to finish of the other part, then the cards are rounded up, sent back to the company and cut, and when you pull a sketch, you will also be receiving the counterpart of that sketch... neat idea, A LOT of work for the artists & the sketch card company. I'll post some samples once available!

" Druid Warrior" BombShells: Women Of War Sketch card for Bad Axe Studios

Well....Its friday... Here is another Bombshells sketch card for the Women of War set being released by Bad Axe studios. I Have a few Returns & AP's are on their way if anyone is interested in a commission.

( return cards are card blanks from the official set that can be commissioned & must be approved by the company prior to final sale, AP cards , or artist proof cards, are pretty much the same except they are specifically printed for the artists on the set, identified by the "AP" marking on the card. AP cards are more rare & can only be obtained from the artist so therefore they are a bit more costly.)

This was done in the usual, Copic markers & a bit of gel pen....

Upcoming Sets

I'm Happy to announce that I was lucky enough to be included in the upcoming set " Once Bitten: Art of the Vampiress" Being put on by Asylum studios and being released in August.

I've also been invited to do 25 cards for John Michael Linsner's set " Dawn: New Horizons" being released by Breygent Marketing.

And I'm also going to be working on the " The American Civil War" Set & and "Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes" Set. Both are being put out by Cult Stuff.

There's also one more set that I would like to mention, but because of a confidentiality agreement I can't really mention it until they do...so stay tuned.

Oh, and for those who don't follow trading cards, sketch cards are original pieces of 2.5 x3.5 artworks that are randomly inserted into packs of printed trading cards, which are used as an incentive for people or dealers to buy them. These cards can cost anywhere from 20-200 Dollars a pop, so if your lucky you can grab one for the price of a single pack of cards and either collect them or sell them.

so...what's up next? well I have a couple more bombshells previews to display before the set comes out, then I just finished working on a war of the worlds set...& MAYBE a Voltron set, if the company ever sends me the cards..and one other set that I don't think I can mention yet. Hello there, here is another fantasy card for unstoppable in the U.K. The Red Dragon sketch card was done with copics & a brush pen, as well as some copic multiliners.

This one is currently up for sale on Ebay here. Not by me of course, but whomever pulled the card from the packs when they were distributed.
