Octo -Monster - Z-sketch Card

Here is the 8th z-sketch card I'm doing that's going to be featured in the " Worlds Of Fantasy" trading card set that will be sold at New York comicon. I'm doing a total of twenty sketch cards & one base card. I have to wait for approval before I post them, So I've been approved to post the first 10. The interesting thing about these cards is that they unfold to display a larger sketch. They are called z-sketch cards. so on the upper right hand corner is the front of the card & the lower left hand corner is the back with the signature. The rest of it folds up like a map. I've included two pics, one is just the card front & the other is the entire sketch, unfolded.

I used copic multiliners & markers for the majority of these cards.

All Hail The Mighty Cthulhu

"In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming"

What Can I say? H.P. Lovecraft was a literary genius & changed the course if sci-fi & horror as we know it today. Every time I read his works, I leave with a renewed sense of inspiration & wonder. This is my tribute shirt to him & the Cult of Cthulhu mythos. I hope you like it.

If you have never read Lovecraft before, READ IT! You can find a good quality hardback book of his short stories for 5-7$ at book stores

Squid Boy!!!

Another Copic marker sketch, did all the skin tones with warm greys, tentacles were neutral greys & eyes cool greys. The background is kinda screwed, I was testing out copic's airbrushing system....works well for smooth background elements, only very light use, not very precise, but can give you the illusion of wide coverage on bigger pieces..anyway, this one was fun to do, I love the smooth gradation you can get with copics!
